Project Baala’s

Menstrual Solidarity Initiative

Strengthening the period care capacity of extraordinary grassroot organisations to scale sustainable menstrual solutions for women and girls

Our mission is to equip local organisations across the county with in-depth period care knowledge in order to create 10+ period-positive communities in 2024.

Who We Are

Project Baala is a social enterprise driven by an impact-led partnership model to ensure delivery of its solution to women and girls till the last mile. Project Baala was founded in 2016 to educate and empower women and girls about menstrual hygiene.

The organization has benefitted over 750,000 women and girls in India, Nepal, South Africa, and Tanzania. Addressing key accessibility issues related to menstrual hygiene management (MHM) products and information, Project Baala has developed a comprehensive solution to fight period poverty and period illiteracy while generating livelihood.

Changing the world is possible. We’ve done it before.

Since 2021, Baala has been selecting grassroot organisations and providing them with free menstrual health and hygiene training and reusable menstrual pads.In the last 3 years we have supported 30 organisations in reaching out to nearly 90,000 women and girls living in difficult locations like the Sundarbans in 2021, Cyclone hit Srikakulam in 2022, riot-affected Manipur in 2023.

In 2024, our goals are even higher. We want to reach the innermost corners of the country, reaching the last person at the last mile!

In 2021, we called it ‘One for 21

7 organisations participated and 4,746 pads were given to 1,582 people across 5 states

In 2022, we called it ‘You for 22’
